Rounders
WHAT IS IT?
Rounders is a striking and fielding team game, where points known as ’rounders’ are scored by a player hitting a ball with a bat and then completing a circuit of the track – consisting of four posts. The aim is to both score the most amount of Rounders as well as to get the batting team ‘out’ as fast as possible.
WHY IS IT GOOD FOR ME?
As well as hand-eye co-ordination, playing Rounders can improve your skills, reflexes and cardiovascular health.
The simplicity of Rounders, recalled from childhood, means that returning to the game is not a daunting prospect.
The fun and social aspect of this team sport can benefit your general well-being.
Between the throwing, catching, running and batting, you may find yourself burning up to 400 calories in an hour!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Playing Rounders can cost from as little as £2 per session and many taster sessions may be free. If you play with a team you will generally pay an annual subscription.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
For beginners, Rounders equipment i.e. bats, balls and posts & bases are provided at organised sessions. Over time, buying an approved Rounders bat which suits you, would be a sound investment. Generally anything goes, but sportswear or comfortable leisure clothing with a bit of stretch is recommended.
